Mission Statement
At The Heduan Review, we want to uplift the voices of every kind of writer and make literary fiction writing more approachable. We look for authentic pieces of short fiction, poetry, and prose poetry, as well as nonfiction personal essays, that examine our unique identities as they manifest and complicate our lives.

Anya Motwani
Editor in Chief
Anya is a rising senior at The Nueva School in San Mateo, California. She has been writing as long as she can remember, often finding refuge in the way that written expression allows for an exploration of the self. Anya is an editor for her school’s scholarly magazine, Romanesco, and the Litmag; she hopes to continue these endeavors in university. Her main inspiration for starting the Heduan Review came from her own experiences and difficulties finding literary journals that resonated with her and her works…
Ruchira Gupta
Guest Judge
Ruchira Gupta is the founder-president of Apne Aap Women Worldwide and Apne Aap International. She is a social justice activist, feminist campaigner, and journalist. She is also a professor at New York University and a Distinguished Scholar at the University of California, Berkeley. She has edited the anthologies River of Flesh & Other Stories: The Prostituted Woman in Indian Short Fiction and As if Women Matter: The Essential Gloria Steinem Reader. Most recently, Ruchira has authored the book I Kick and I Fly, a triumphant story of courage and freedom.
Sangeeta Mediratta
Guest Judge
Sangeeta Mediratta returns to Stanford’s Program in Writing and Research after a sojourn in Stanford Global Studies as Associate Director. She has served as Teaching Fellow and then Lecturer over five years in the past and returns with ever-greater enthusiasm for the teaching of writing and for working with her students. At Stanford, she has taught classes on rhetoric and writing, literature, and film. Her PWR classes currently focus on maps, borders, networks, objects, and objectification. She loves learning about and helping her students develop their personalized research projects.
Sudhir John Horo
Communications
Horo has for years extended design solutions into vehicles of communication without barriers of language or social hierarchy. An alumnus of the National Institute of Design, his work for Brand India across various geographies during important events like the World Economic Forum, UN General Assembly, UN Climate Change Conference, European Parliament Sessions has been widely acclaimed for its simplicity and effectiveness. Horo has worked with the Metrovalley team in the quest to evolve unique dimension of infrastructure design and solutions designed on the basis of social and cultural needs of modern day living in emerging Indian workplace, habitats and cities.
Krishna Jadeja
Editor
Krishna is a junior at Ahmedabad International School. She is passionate about the environment and giving back to her community through the skills and experiences she gains from working in various fields. She is determined to bring about positive change in the world, whether it be in the lives of her friends and family or global communities. Krishna enjoys writing poetry in her spare time and can most often be found indulging in her love for reading.
Zoon
Editor
Zoon is a high schooler at Dhirubhai Ambani International School in Mumbai, India. Her passion for literature has always been a core aspect of her life. In her spare time, she can be found reading and writing poetry, and often analyzing texts of iconic literary figures. Zoon is a part of the editorial board of her school’s magazine and in 2023, her essay was shortlisted for the John Locke Institute global essay prize (Junior Category).
